Maniac
(1934, dir. Dwain Esper)

Trailer:
Aka Sex Maniac. From the director of the well-known classics Sex Madness (1938 / trailer) and Modern Motherhood (1934), Maniac is considered by many as "one of the most amusing bad movies ever made." (John Wilson, founder of the Golden Raspberry Awards)
The plot of Maniac, according to Wikipedia: "Don Maxwell (William Woods) is a former vaudeville impersonator who is working as the lab assistant to Dr. Meirschultz (Horace B. Carpenter), a mad scientist attempting to bring the dead back to life. When Don kills Meirschultz, he attempts to hide his crime by 'becoming' the doctor, taking over his work and copying his appearance and manner. In the process, he slowly goes insane. The 'doctor' treats a mental patient, Buckley (Ted Edwards), but accidentally injects him with adrenaline, which causes him to go into violent fits. Buckley's wife (Phyllis Diller) discovers the body of the real doctor, and blackmails Don into turning her husband into a zombie. The ersatz doctor turns the tables on her by manipulating her into fighting with his estranged wife (Thea Ramsey), a former showgirl. [...]"
As an extra, a vintage Betty Boop short will be shown before the main attraction.

The Killer Shrews
(1959, dir. Ray Kellogg)

Trailer:

Starring absolutely no one you have ever heard of, The Killer Shrews is the directorial debut of the man who made The Giant Gila Monster (1959), which he filmed in tandem.
This is what TV Guide has to say about the movie: "KING KONG featured a giant gorilla, GODZILLA had an enormous lizard, so the only terrifying animal left for Ken Curtis to make a film about was that evil little creature, the shrew! Curtis served as both producer and supporting player in this so-bad-it's-good feature. Lumet—real-life father of director Sidney—is an evil scientist who creates a formula that makes the tiny shrew resemble something like a collie with a shrew-mask. During a storm the little devils get loose and go after Best and his girl friend Goude, who was Miss Universe of 1957. Good dumb fun [...]"
As an extra, a vintage Betty Boop short will be shown before the main attraction.

The Monster Maker
(1944, dir. Sam Newfield)
From the director of that well-known classic, Hitler, Beast of Berlin (1939) — with over 250 directorial projects to his name, director Sam Newfield is considered the most productive filmmakers of the sound era!
The plot of The Monster Maker, according to Wikipedia: "Dr. Markoff (J. Carrol Naish) has concocted a formula that spreads a hideous disease named acromegaly — which extends bones and distorts facial features. Markoff has no moral dilemma in experimenting on unsuspecting human subjects. His amoral behavior assumes monstrous dimensions when famed concert pianist Lawrence (Ralph Morgan) is injected with the doctor's disease-inducing serum. In return for an antidote, Markoff intends to exact more than his pound of flesh by extorting a fortune from Lawrence and demanding the hand of the musician's pretty daughter Patricia (Wanda McKay)."
As an extra, a Betty Boop short will be shown before the main attraction.
